SUB: Increase in the rate of Service Tax with effect from 10.09.2004

Sir / Madam,

This is to inform you that as per the Trade Notice No. 46 / 2004 - ST, dated 10.09.2004 issued from the Office of the Commissioner of Central Excise - Mumbai, the rate of Service Tax has been increased from 8% to 10%, plus Education cess of 2% on Service Tax (i.e. 10.2%).
The enhanced rate of Service Tax is effective from 10.09.2004.
